Why attend Sunday School?

Over the years hundreds of children and young adults have benefited greatly by attending our Sunday School.  Attending has helped them build a solid foundation to meet life’s challenges.  We hear feedback, and here are a couple of written comments:

I feel privileged to have attended the Christian Science Sunday School in Jackson all through my childhood. I learned about the people, places, events, and life-lessons found in the Bible.  I learned about the love and the teachings of Christ Jesus.  Sunday School equipped me with a basic understanding of how Christian Science heals, how to pray, and how to live a loving, God-centered life — all of which has served me well through the years.  -B.C.

The early understanding of the Ten Commandments and The Beatitudes help me know right from wrong and how to bless others in my experience. I still have friends made in that Sunday School some six decades ago. The good that I learned during those years, in Sunday School, has blessed my entire experience.  -A.B.

In Sunday School I learned the basics of Christian Science including where to turn when I needed help, and here’s an example.  A dentist told me I had an abscessed tooth that must be pulled.  I called a Christian Science practitioner and in two hours the pain vanished.  When I returned to the dentist, he said extraction was no longer necessary, and frankly, was amazed.  I learned in Sunday School how practitioners can help you understand your relationship to God, and this heals.   –J.W.

What is taught…

For the youngest students, the first lessons consist of the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and its spiritual interpretation from the Christian Science textbook, and the Sermon on the Mount.  Age appropriate, additional topics are adapted from the lesson-sermon that is read at the church service.

Time and place…

The Sunday School is open to anyone up to age 20 and is held at the same time as the Sunday church service (10:30 am – 11:30 am).  The location is 147 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson (please see Google map on the main page).
